I didn't finish telling the story of the marble slab.

The trek from New Orleans to Northern Virginia basically wiped us out financially. When we got here, we had maybe $20, and if we brought back the truck on August 1, we'd get back $100. We got here about midnight, July 31, and started unloading. It took me and Chris all night to unload the truck, it was almost dawn by the time we started trying to get the marble slab out. God, that was hard. We slid it down the ramp, and left it in the driveway, just so I could bring the truck back to Ryder the next day, and get the $100 so we would have money for food, formula and diapers until payday, three weeks later. Chris washed and dressed and drove to his first day of work at the Patent Office, poor lamb. I took a little nap, and drove the truck to Ryder, and got the money, and hitch-hiked back. And while I was sleeping, the mailman drove over the marble in the driveway, on his way to the mailbox, and broke it into one biggish chunk and a lot of little ones. It's about 3 ft by 3 ft now.

Hey, you need a marble slab for making peanut brittle. Makes a nice head stone too.
