Eli74;

I don't have the date. You will have to research by going backward from 79-73. You will find it. Remember, we have computers now in libraries and they can cross reference by subject. However, there is always the tedious method of going through the archive one day at a time. Did you read the Times regularly back then? Ford did not buy a company they bought the patent from these two engineers.

If it seems so ridiculous I will remind you of a much more famous story of the birth of television in 1929 and its suppression by David Sarnoff, RCA until the patent had run out. The same guy also invented the electron microscope and that too was stolen. He never made a dime from either patent. I will add one from my own family. My father in law invented the turboflow centralizer. Now, basic equipment on every oil rig in the world. He held the basic patent. It was infringed upon by Standard Oil of Calf. He spent 15 years in court and finally they settled with him for his court costs. He never made a dime. They made him sign a non reveal agreement but I am not bound by it. He had to settle for 7 million. Peanuts for something that important. He got zip. I am not bitter about it. It didn't happen to me. However, these are just a few illustrations. I don't know what Ford's motives could possibly have been but I am sure of my facts.
Bill
