BOT SBUX on the open at 24 1/4, it closed at 26 15/16. I can't get over the press. All day they were talking it down but my position kept moving up. What were they talking about? I wasn't feeling any pain. It really seemed strange. Anchor after anchor kept hammering it down, but it was moving up and up. So what happened?

For once, Instinet worked in the favor of those left on the outside looking in. Trading down 11 points after hours yesterday on Instinet, IMHO, was due to the thin market Instinet harbors. The press picks up the happening and makes it worse, cuz it's the only story out there. I mean, 73 million shrs is news on any day.

When I heard the 6 cent short fall, I thought SBUX would pull back to 32 or so. Then I heard Instinet traded it down 11 points. I thought if it opened at 27 I'd look at it. Then when it opened at 24 1/4 I didn't have to think twice -- I jumped in. For once, all that information and Instinet got together and worked in favor of the poor guy standing on the outside looking in.

Ya, I've heard a lot of criticism of Starbuck for trying to get online, but I wish them luck. The only mistake they made, IMHO, was to break the news on the mercy of Instinet. For once, common sense ruled.
