I wouldn't be so quick to sign Wal-mart off - you may not see their stores in New York, LA or Chicago - but they're everywhere else in the US. They are, after all, the leading retailer in the country (and probably the world) - and a lot of people know their name. And while their web presence does not yet match Amazon's, I'm sure they're not going to give up any of their revenue without a fight. It's also interesting to note that Amazon did successfully hire away some key Wal-mart managers that knew Wal-mart's distribution system inside and out - Wal-mart sued, and I believe Amazon settled out of court (someone correct me if I'm wrong here).

(sigh)... ok. I think you know where I was coming from with this. I'm sure walmart did
a lot of great things for logistics but so did Dell, I let the market assign the premium to
each approach. Michael Dell's age is an advantage btw not a liability in my book.

Michelle,

I could not resist this so take it waith a grain.

Especially in light of the fact Sam Walton died of old age<G>

Michelle I absolutely agree re Dell's age and he is an incredible innovator.

I also think Sam W. gets not enough credit for the innovations he made decades ago, using technology that was incredibly crude by our standards today. No wonder AMZN went to Arkansas, of all places, looking for product management people, and hired Walmart people, including their head IT guy.
