SB:

The government boys take the sales numbers with respect to annual computer sales and multiply them by some mad and very large "K" factor which is supposed to take into account the marvellous addition to the economy all the added computer power (that we now buy for peanuts) is worth. It is a complete scam as GDP is supposed to be about dollars, not computing power.

What this exercise does is ad on a huge dollop of non-existent growth to the calculated GDP. If we subtract this piece of Peter Pan arithmetic from the announced GDP of the last few years, the U.S. "robust" economy looks pathetic (4% GDP growth becomes 2% GDP growth). It is as big a hoax as I have ever seen perpetrated by a government on its unsuspecting citizens.

Best, Earlie
