I'm responding to the part of your message about "buy and hold".

I use to feel the same way until a month or so ago I was shown the light about trading (I won't mention any names as it would probably embarrass him) But getting back to trading if you by 100 shares of a stock and hold it from point a to point b, you make x amount of dollars. On the other hand if your the type that watches this and other threads everyday or so, you should be buying and selling the wrinkles (thats what I call them) making money on the pullbacks if you watch a stock closely enough it won't run away from you. There I've said it and thats all I have to say. Except thanks.
