Absolutely dead-on, David. Use fundamental analysis and crowd psychology, then sell premium, never buy the stuff (that's for those who play the lottery or think they have inside dope). As you implied, sell puts or calls equivalent to your actual or potential stock position. Other than arbitrage, what you described is how options are to be used by the rational trader or investor.
