gary, You don't need to have the science "dumbed down" because, really, NOBODY understands vaccine science. That's the truth no matter what you read or hear. We still don't know how Jonas Salk's vaccine worked. We still don't have a clear idea of how the smallpox vaccine works. What IS known is that one must forge ahead and vaccinate volunteers with safe product, based on vaccines that have been developed previously. That's why AIDSVAX is the most intelligent vaccine trial out there and has advanced to phase III (over 90% of drugs NEVER make it to phase III trials). The VaxGen approach is based on Jonas Salk's approach and based on the Hepatitis B vaccine approach. There's a reason for that.
