As a single source solutions provider, NAS is delivering these multiple networking services as a subcontractor to Government Telecommunications, Inc. (GTI) under the General Services Administration's Wire and Cable Services (WACS) contract. GTI's decision to subcontract with NAS for DOJ's connectivity over copper was driven by NAS' ability to immediately deliver a DSL-based T1 replacement. ''The Department of Justice and NAS relationship clearly reflects the depth of services NAS is capable of delivering. Providing reliable, cost-effective connectivity through DSL is just one part of a much bigger picture,'' said Jon Aust, CEO of Network Access Solutions. ''Federal agencies demand the same integrated voice data and networking solutions as the commercial sector, and NAS has the track record and the team to fulfill these needs.'' Network Access Solutions, a facilities-based data CLEC, is providing the Department of Justice with a full suite of networking solutions including network design, system hardware and integration services. To date, NAS has installed 33 Channelized DSL nodes nationwide as part of the Department's Justice Consolidated Network (JCN). For the Justice Consolidated Network, NAS is using channelized DSL to extends the JCN ATM network (procured through FTS 2000) through existing copper wire to multiple DOJ bureaus. The first DOJ organizations connected by NAS include the Federal Bureau of Prisons, Executive Office of United States Attorneys, and Community Relations Service. This solution provides the capability for full monitoring, management, and control for the DOJ Network Service Center (NSC). The NAS channelized DSL solution provides DOJ with dedicated 1.54Mbps speeds over two wires with significant cost savings over traditional T1 lines. Channelized DSL provides a direct replacement for T1 services with NX64 channel service. NAS is the largest DSL provider in North America to deploy Paradyne Corp.'s MSDSL solution. NAS has built a robust DSL offering specifically designed to meet business-class requirements. The suite DSL-enabled services NAS provides deliver high quality, reliable bandwidth at lower costs than many traditional networking products. Because of technology advances, existing network infrastructure, which is comprised of copper wires already in the ground, is now capable of supporting multimedia applications at speeds which were not possible just a few years ago.
