Win2000 --- embrace and extend

Every time Microsoft comes out with a new OS, Norton (Symantec) comes out with a new version of its utilities that embrace and extend the OS tools for managing the system. You can beat your head against the registry wall or you get Norton and let it fix the inevitable registry mess that Windows creates.

When Microsoft finally comes out with a directory I can't help but think that the marketing approach for Novell would be a carbon copy of Symantec's.

=================

NOVL currently trading at the high 27 9/16ths with a very deep queue on the ask side to 27 3/4. Incidentally the Options are all up dramatically today. My interpretation is that there is tremendous buying going on here in the 25's and 30's.

As to CSCO, what a chance they are taking by not embracing Novell's stable and proven directory technology. Didn't they learn anything from Digital Equipment, IBM, Intel and all the other companies that thought they could come out of a deal with Microsoft whole?
