Didn't see the sites. I've been busy in 3-D and haven't spent much time online.

The Islamics got the good libraries when they overran Alexandria and North Africa.

I don't know that the Dark Ages would have been so dark if Rome hadn't collapsed. The Germanic tribes that dominated the West after 415 weren't known for their literary enthusiasms. The Romans liked Greek culture and learning but the libraries may not have survived in the West.

The Fall of Byzantium is also about the time of the Protestant Reformation.

Now I'd like to know why these guys didn't go to Northern Europe until around 1100.
