I am not a fan of Immanuel Kant. In fact, his mystical approach to philosophy has done much to keep mysticism alive past the Dark Ages. It should have withered away after the Renaissance. The budding Age of Reason was partially sabotaged by IK.

Well, this is one of the many places where I disagree with Kant. Ultimately all acts are based in self-interest.

Mother Teresa didn't help the poor because of some measurable objective recognition of the goodness of her actions; she helped the poor because that's what made her feel good.

That certainly doesn't mean it's a bad thing...
