gl,

Are there any online brokers one can use to enter in both sides of a spread simultaneously? I haven't seen any.

I don't know of any currently. Just spoke to Schwab and they are testing a screen that would allow this but they are having problems with it. If they start you can expect others to follow shortly.

Regards

Ken

I have heard second hand the Dreyfus allows one to enter a spread order over the Net. Obviously you will need to check it for yourself.

Yes, at Preferred you have to talk to a live broker to enter a spread.

Fortunately, it is easy to get to a live broker.

I don't find anything on any of their web sites about a "retail rate". And I didn't get anything in the mail (other than my monthly statement). It would appear that the SAME rates apply online or by phone. (But perhaps this is something that recently changed.)

I was considering converting a couple of profitable long call positions to spreads, but I chickend-out and took my profit at the close today. (July 57 1/2 CSCO calls, and July 60 SUNW calls). I was going to do it by phone, and ask them if it would be OK the next time to do it online. It's unclear that this would have been understood by their online system to be a spread (my account IS approved for spreads).
