reason i ask is because i prefer not to keep my passwords on my hard drive just in case someone gains access to my machine via back orifice or netbus. it's my understanding that in a matter of mere seconds they can grab every pertinent file from the target system and be gone. of course then they begin to run your machine through an open port and you may never know they're there.

but this danger is only for lans, to my understanding. so i don't mind re-entering passwords and usernames when i visit a site. they stay cached all day, or maybe two days, then i wipe 'em.

and yes, i believe you're still using 28.8. and i like win95 better myself, too. btw, netscape communicator 4.51 is sweet, and fixes a number of security issues from earlier browser versions. so, in essence, the 'if it ain't broke don't fix it' analogy isn't applicable... cause if you think about it, the earlier versions ARE broken.

imo, you'd be ahead of the cookie game (given that you want to clean them out) if you were to commit some passwords to memory and try the deletion route i described. you can always go back.

:)
