SRCH and KOOP among others picking up steam. You may want to stick around for the fun.

Scanner: HP 6200C (a bit expensive, but one of the best)
3COM NIC: No problem...plug your DSL in, configure network. Done.
BW Printer: Laserjet HP 2100M (small biz)
Color: Not sure, but anything "Ink"jet bleeds or smudges when wet

Try to buy all of these on EBAY (cheaper). Plus I own the stock.

good luck,
Scrumpy

Adelle,

Save yourself some money if you have a screwdiver... NIC's are less than $20 anywhere and Win98 will recognize all of them.

Think ADSL or cable and don't mess around with 56k Modems anymore (my problem was an aberration... never happened again). The reason is you need a fast internet access if you network those two PC's on a one-line internet access... make sure Dell sends you the newest version of Win98... it enables you to use as many PC's networked on one IP address (IP addressing is internal to your home network)... will save you money in the long run. Get a 3Com or Bay Networks (NetGear SB104) network starter kit... it comes with two NIC's, 4-port hub and all the cables you need... less than $100...

Good luck!
