A note about the design choices made by SI for the new site:

I like these colors, but more than that, I like the reasons (as I perceive them) for the colors. As I see it, the olive bars between the message, with the dark blue fields above and below that create a negative space in which the message jumps out. The white space without borders on either side of the message serve to increase the negative space. (To see how that works, stand far from the monitor and blur your eyes a bit. You can still see the message as a gray rectangle. If you were to try that with Cheeky's gray page, it would look like a big gray blob, with little distinction between the message space and the other page elements.)

Despite the criticism of the colors, I hope you'll stick with the current plan even if you have to tweak the colors a bit to satisfy the complaints. Obviously, it would be nice to be able to choose colors since any choice is going to be unpopular with some, but I'd worry that adding color choice to the customization would slow down the page rendering too much.

As a default color scheme, though, I think you've come up with a great combination for all the right reasons.
