The arrogance that says you're chief dog often doesn't see the baying pack at its heels.

Grove understood the importance of healthy paranoia.

As for asking forgiveness at the end of the quarter, keep in mind the reasons had to do with an administration based on some of the qualities I dislike in McGinn.

Whether he is arrogant or not should not be the issue. LU shareholders are consistently rewarded. LU closed to today at 70 11/16, a record closing high, on volume of 9,349,900. Do not forget about the stock 2-1 stock split in April 1999. NN, on the other hand, closed at 29 7/16, down 1/16. Today's volume was 181,600.

If LU's top man is arrogant, he is certainly entitled.
