That may be the best case for the mining companies(which you hate).

Richard, what is this obsession you have with thinking that I hate miners??

I don't hate miners. In fact, I think several of my ancestors were miners of one sort or another.

What I despise is people like yourself who seem to believe, or demand, that the Federal gov't continue to perpetuate a massive subsidization program for the mining industry by accomodating your special interest pork barrel politics aimed at supporting your gold positions.

Like I've said before... if gold is to truely find its market equilibrium as a commodity, the CBs reserves need to be sold off gradually so that the cost basis for producing gold properly reflect its demand and supply.

The oil industry had to endure the same thing because mistakenly believed that OPEC would be able to continue their extortionary pricing practices.

So great... if the market devises a new demand for silver or gold that justifies its price, I'm all for it. That is what pricing commodities is all about. It is not about subsidizing an industry solely through false claims of gold being a currency or preying upon people's fears of Y2K or world calamity.

In fact, what is most disgusting about the gold market is how the world gold council and others seem to NEED the world to go to hell in a handbasket so they can continue to create a demand.

Like the latest commercial from the WGC where the Spanish conquistadores are discussing the reasons for conquering the Aztecs in their quest for gold. One character details fears of Y2K, the plummeting Russian economy... etc. Everything that is based upon fear and utter chaos.

I find it difficult to feel positive for supporting an industry that seems to require so much negativity in order to maintain consumer demand.

Pretty disgusting in my eyes. It's downright sick.

Regards,

Ron
