Terrence, how can a well traveled person not have noticed that what works in one era or culture or even subculture does not work in another?

At some level you know this, and that is why you refuse to answer any question about what would be appropriate in your own culture, for your own daughter.

The questions are not hard; the answers merely make you uncomfortable. I believe you are creating problems for yourself where none need to exist.

Terrence, what may fine for the daughter of the chief or the proprietor of the bottle store in a village in Togo or Gambia or Lesotho or Kenya or Ghana is not necessarily fine for your daughter in Scarsdale. Or wherever.

It may also not be fine for the daughter of the chief. It will vary from culture to culture, and according to the arrangements made. The chief will do all he can to protect his daughter's interest, you may be sure. The way in which they are protected is different in Burkina Faso than it is in New York, is all.

Shakespeare didn't address the situation I cited, as far as I know.
