Mqurice, I almost always agree with you. And for the most part I do on this one, too. I forgot to put in a couple of things in my earlier post. (Another way of saying this is I thought of these after I logged off.) My $500 handset offer would only go to people who are a) existing Airtouch customers who regularly use more than 500 minutes and roam a lot (in other words, this would be a highly qualified direct marketing program, not selling to the general public) and b) the offer must be accepted before service officially begins, at which time a whole new program would start. In my opinion, under this plan Airtouch would sell out their allotment by August, forcing them to put lots of pressure on GlobalStar and Qualcomm to manufacture lots more handsets really really fast. Qualcomm is capacity constrained, so Qualcomm would have to license their technology to more handset manufacturers, who would want to get in on the action because they saw how fast the first X thousand sold. The more companies involved, the more people have cojones on the line, the more promotion will happen and the more GlobalStar stock goes up like the might Q. -- -- -- Price may be the determining factor in some cases. I buy my gas (petrol to you) from a Merit station instead of the BP station, because Merit is usually $.08 cheaper and my car does not know the difference. On the other hand, I bought my wife a Volvo when I could have gotten her something approximately equally functional much less expensively. Obviously something other than price was at work here. -- -- -- More later. Leaving now to take my daughter to see Disney's animated Tarzan. I want to see how they made a Tarzan movie without any Africans in it.
