Craig, not if you take a lot of photos. If you are inclined to take about 500 photos a year and then have the opportuity to view them on a display before printing, and then print only the ones you really like, you'll be saving money over the typical amateur who generally gets two photos for each negative at the time the film is processed. At roughly $15 to process and double-print a 24-exposure 35mm cartridge, plus about $4 for the film itself, you're talking about $400 annual film and processing costs. Do that for two years and you've damn near paid for the camera. That's the kind of economics that make higher resolution digital cameras great bargains.
