I agree with most of what you write. I think sexual and moral education are necessary, and probably access to a well-labeled library is the best way. I devoured books, especially medical and psychological texts. Until I read the first Kinsey book on the male (at age 18), I thought I had a mental disease because of my hypersexuality and was afraid I was infected with homosexuality because I liked a boy who had sexually assaulted me. My point is that most kids cannot be protected from sexual assault except by detailed education. I think martial arts are also critical -- especially for girls. I was almost raped because I wasn't strong enough to defeat my attacker. When I finally had the opportunity to learn karate I knew exactly what I wanted it for.
I don't mean to be insulting, but I would be surprised if any parent knew a tenth of the abuse that their children had been subjected to. I never told my parents anything because they were both to shy to discuss what I wanted to learn about. They probably didn't know much anyway. They had three kids in the depths of the Great Depression.
