It appears that Montgomery County "the best prepared county" in the nation lied about its y2k preparation.

gazette.net

These folks claim to have started 3 years ago,now we may have to take even that with a grain of salt.Do you suppose other companies, governments might be mistaken as to how much is compliant?

"The county also had set a goal of fixing and testing its computer systems by Dec. 31, 1998. That
didn't happen. The county later pushed the date back to June 30, but that won't happen either.

About one-third of the county's computer systems haven't been certified as fixed."

One other thing ,Cheeky, your crowing about July 1 seems to be irresponsible. It's my understanding that fy00 rollover during 1999 is not at all relevant to what is going to happen to that system on 01/01/00 because you don't use fiscal yearends on operational level systems. If the accounting software is
screwed up, it may take weeks or months before the effect
is noticible, and/or the general public hears about it.

How soon did you find out that Montgomery county's payroll
system didn't work for the first two months of 1999?Oops you wouldn't know that would you,if its not on ZDnet its over your horizon.
