RG , so you are in my old country eh?

The technicallity of retrieving e-mail is not in question. The question is the access. To keep your current address you will need to pay your ISP ( they don't do it for free ) and the company that provides the high speed ( not dial up) dedicated access.
We do that here now ( eg the richmond hotel) and with ADSL , to a telco partnering ISP( I have that service and it is incredible), if yours is one of the 'partners' them fine, if not hard luck, you lose your address ( unless you want to pay them as well = big total$ )
The second way ( and far cheaper )is for MDU to have a high speed access and a dedicated ISP that you must use ,that way they would compete very favourably with the competition. And that's what its all about.
The trick here is it's no use having high speed access and then go over a choked network to your old ISP and then out to the choked internet, and then back over the same route.
