E, I can only talk of my experience. I live in California, where men may be more open about their sexuality, including talking about women they encounter in all male groups (although I doubt that geography has a whole lot to do with it). I am certainly not saying that men discuss their wives and girlfriends in this way, just that their all-male conversation is littered with references to what they would like to do with the hottie who has just walked by, and language not normally used in mixed company.

As I said in another post, it is more difficult to imagine deeply religious men, or men who were reared in Catholic schools, acting this way. I do think that at work, if male bosses talk this way when women are not around, it might be difficult to challenge them.
