PB, Ram and Rangy Rangers: Eight South African junior gold companies to merge (Kaplan) Eight South African junior gold mining and exploration companies jointly announced Monday, July 19, 1999 that they are aiming to merge under one group by the end of August 1999. These include Consolidated African, JCI, Western Areas, Randfontein, Randgold & Exploration, Randgold Resources, Barnato, and Free State. Because of its London listing, it is speculated that Randgold Resources might be the takeover vehicle.
