Fortune magazine has been following the MSFT trial closely. The conclusion of the author of the series is that MSFT is going to lose the trial (likely already discounted) , will be declared a monopoly (I'm unsure whether this has been discounted) , and that whatever the remedy it will not be so draconian as breaking up the company. One comment about the government's cross examiner David Boies was that is able to make reputable people look like liars, which is why he is a great lawyer.
The official monopoly label worries me because I consider one of the worst outcomes to be one where the government or a judge constantly oversees the company. I would much rather have a break up.
