Wal-Mart is a Dow Industrial...obviously a well-regarded company. That's not the point.

The article points out the issue of outsourcing, a very questionable tactic for Wal-Mart, especially Wal-mart with its logistical preeminence, to use if it wants to dominate etailing.

Sounds to me that Wal-Mart may be hedging their bets in case of failure, or at least minimizing their risk early on.
