John, OTOH, COM21 was not certified,thus making 3com's cable biz more attractive, and did you see :http://www.techweb.com/wire/finance/story/INV19990701S0005 "Lucent still lacks the distribution channels for data-networking gear that 3Com and Compaq have. It lacks the extensive enterprise switch and hub offerings of Cabletron and 3Com." AND "What IT managers really seem to want is help integrating disparate systems." This is where 3com's QOS net mgmt leadership position shines. That plus Janice Roberts comments about Palm as a tracking stock or spin off give this long substantial optimism.
