Boy, I wish I had escaped. Those nuns scared the daylights out of me. I can remember the terror of admitting I had come to school without my little mantilla and having to go into church with a sheet of paper on my head. It was a mortal sin I guess, not to cover your evil, sinful seven year old head.
As a parent today, I would be furious at the crap those nuns fed us about sin, and evil, and guilt. BUt my mother was a devout Catholic, and my father was hands off, considering a child's religious development women's work. He was Church of England if he was anything. Mostly he wasn't anything.

Since I am still fighting the guilt ingrained by that parochial training, I am a less than stellar mother if measured by the amount of indoctrination my boys have received. I guess that's why CW is an agnostic (or atheist, I'm a little unclear which) and Ammo believes in something but is rather vague about it all. At least they've been spared those big black starched figures looming over their childhood.
