I don't find it insulting at all. I find it amusing. Methinks the singles do protest too much.

We who are happily married know full well (full used in many senses) the joys of a good marriage. In my own case, I came to marriage somewhat late, in my mid 30s; had plenty of years spreading wild oats and enjoying the pleasures of bing single, both in small towns and in big cities (including New York, the top of the heap for single men). Married is MUCH better.

Let those who are single and desperate to persuade themselves how happy they are keep baying to the moon about their happiness and the misery of married people.

I just get a good laugh out of it. Which I delight in sharing with my wife.
