If you burn to a CD-R disk, most CD players should have no problems with it. I use TDK CD-R's almost exclusively, and have yet to encounter a CD player that won't read it.

(BTW, CD-RW drives can burn to both CD-R and CD-RW disks)

It depends on which format you use to write the CD, which I believe must be in .wav PCM format (16 bit 44.1 Khz stereo).

Stereo CD players can't read MP3 files that might be written on a CD-R, for example.
