Further to Slate's point: Since most people fund their Wave accounts by use of a credit card charge, many (but I suspect not all) of the innate VISA/MC/AMEX protections and recourses will still be available to them.

Specifically, IMHO that the major protection against a credit card charge for services or product paid for, but not provided, would still apply.
