She's smart, as a result she stuck with him to show the American people that she can put up with the biggest liar/jerk in history; she won points for that one. After Clinton's term she needs to distance herself from him to make her ascent; she just needs to say that they "grew apart". Otherwise Bill will be in the side-spotlight during her future political career and that will invoke the bad memories of the Clinton years ... not to mention people thinking that the both of them would be back in the Whitehouse again with roles reversed (when she runs of course)!
