Journalists were probably saying the same thing about cars and telephones in the 1920's. Who could possibly want 2 cars, much less one for a teenager? They would never be useful for 250 mile trips - that's what trains were for. Only a few people will ever be able to afford telephones , etc.
I have little doubt that Intel can use it's legendary manufacturing skills to move up into servers. I worry more about their ability to dominate the lower end. I suspect that some sort of mobile phone-palm pilot- computer- www access device will be as much with people as a watch is today. If so, this is where the biggest growth will be.
