From the S10 statement:

"Xin Hai is already offering a "flea market" to its subscribers currently with over 10,000 items offered for sale."

I always thought that piece of business was rather lame, 'til I ran across this estimate from the official China newssite:

cei.gov.cn

item pasted here:

Second-hand Goods Gain Favor
China's second-hand goods market has experienced continual expansion in recent years.

There are as many as 120 pilot markets for used goods in 92 cities across China. The total turnover of second-hand goods in these markets amounted to 30 billion yuan (US$3.6 billion) last year. The Ministry of Internal Trade (now the State Internal Trade Bureau) announced in 1997 that the second-hand goods sector was an important part of the circulation industry. The administration also drafted a plan to guide and promote the development of China's second-hand goods market.

This year, it will make more efforts to expand the sales network for second-hand goods and reinforce supervision of the market.
