Richard, to your post I have a short story.

<< local TV made it sound ... all these "whiskey crazed indians" were running wild and killing the white settlers and we were going to be
saved by the federal government>>

Subject: When do you know what you know is the truth.

My family tree on both sides of my parents has all as farmers,
and the tree has roots for all in Poland.

Big families all, as many needed to work the land and milk the cows.

Education, only that required by law.

My father thought he was learned because he read all the books in the
public library, and later in life after 1950s TV brought more information.

When my father was on the farm he read all the library books at the
library since none were to be found at home on the farm.

As I left home at age 17 the only text book in the house was a dictionary.

About ten years ago my father retired and I felt that now that he is not
working equal to 2 jobs, that he can have some books. So over a week
time I went to about a dozen book stores and at that table of discount
books for sale cheap I brought enough to fill a pickup truck, and gave
them all to my father for a Christmas present.

All the books I selected were of educational value or good old fashion
novels of mystery and science fiction and adventure that were written
by people long ago. Also lots of factual and history books.

My father read a couple about American History and was very sadden
to learn that the native Americans, the Indians, were treated extremely
bad by the USA government and settlers. He was only told the USA
side of the story in highschool and library "accepted" books, and tv.

Very sad and troubled he was to learn the truth.

What if I never gave him the books ?

How many books does one have to read before the truth appears.

Why does the un-truth get accepted so easy ?

Why do so many, probably 99% of people, think a gold standard is not
needed or is bad or tried and didn't work ?

Maybe when the bubble pops we can get their attention and point out
the reasons for the crash and their lost of wealth.
