That's the argument that altruism is a numan characteristic. Most people do not act in self or gene interest all the time. Many of us take pleasure in helping others --- especially others in our tribes. In the myth (or fact) that tribes share a common ancestor there is more than a trace of genetic or blood self-interest. When the study of genetics finally proves that all human beings share common ancestry, we will recognize the fact that all people are siblings -- all men are brothers. This will help us rationalize our being kind and generous to one another.
