The Economist this week has an article about the commodization of PCs and how inevitable is the coming softness in Dell, Wintel, etc. They commented in passing: " Perhaps Apple in the iMac has the way to go", referring to brand marketing to consumers.

July 21 may tell more in NYC.

An Apple commercial suggestion:

Dad: (sitting in front of his PC) "How the heck am I supposed
to be able to view this on-line video??

Daughter: (peeking over dad's shoulder) "We all use Quicktime.
It's the best! You can look at pictures, listen to
cool on-line music, watch live events, look at 3-D
scenes...all sorts of stuff!"

Dad: "I don't have the money to buy the software your school
has...."

Daughter: It's free.

Dad: Free?!

Daughter: Free.
