David, I think that answering your question would be made easier if you disclosed the name and the current product line (a description) of the company in question.

In general, however, what the larger companies may be doing is sourcing out the work to a smaller player at a time when it now appears that the market is ready for wireless in a more friendly and at the same time, agressive, way. In this case they may only be using the smaller company as a "starter" option, a common practice when a larger company enters a new field in a tentative manner, while they get their own house in order, while waiting to see if the trend has a chance of fulfilling itself.

Hedging, is the word I'm looking for here. Sometimes this leads to absorbing the smaller company, and sometimes not, resulting in a little bit of the too bads.

Who are you referring to, might I ask? Or did I miss something which is implied in your post, or possibly from an earlier post?

Regards, Frank Coluccio
