Looks like Auction Channel has had plans to hold a "live" interactive auction via the internet. . . so BDE is just the company to make that happen. This is from Auction Channel website:

After an exciting three years, which started in June 96
when Trojan Television Limited was incorporated in the
UK and began trading as The Auction Channel, we now
move up into top gear. We are delighted to announce
that, as of 22nd June, we have been acquired by Brilliant
Digital Entertainment, a US-based AMEX-listed company
and creators of Multipath Movies and a pioneering
producer of 3D content and tools for the Internet. Click
here for full details.

As you would expect, unique new features from The
Auction Channel will continue to flow. It has always been
our goal to make the auction experience as real as if you
were sitting right there in the auction room; with the raft of
BDE's proprietary software and content tools, we'll be
making this happen. Watch out for further
announcements!

Sounds fun. . ."as real as if you were sitting right there in the auction room". . . .this acquisition makes perfect sense. Use Auction channel live/interactive via the internet as a sample demo. . . to start selling the same technology for other uses.
