There *is a EZ(er) PPP setup tool that comes with the Solaris server bundle. It just doesn't come with the developer (free) Solaris. At least, that's my understanding. Why they don't just make it a part of AdminTool, I haven't a clue.

While it is true that the UUCP PPP setup is a bit on the archaic side, I personally (as a *nix newbie) found Solaris PPP setup easier than PPP under Linux. Either way, I have a MUCH greater undertstanding of TCP/IP networking than I otherwise would have as a sheltered Windows user. Installing PPP was hours (and hours) well spent.

discussing the ease of PPP setup and forming this argument as the basis for the "demise" of solaris as an operating system is as futile of an argument as one can possibly make.
