I say YES to Borders!!!!!!

Shift it the left and make it wider so it shows more text.

Have you all bitched about all post links going to the
ad server?
beta.siliconinvestor.com

I miss the double space bigger font listings of subject marks.

I miss the old SI!!!!!!!

I know, I know, you hate table borders.

Yes. I dislike table borders in general, but especially in a situation like these messages. The vertical lines actually detract from readability. We read horizontally. There's already a strong vertical limit provided by the browser's borders. That's enough.

You'll never see a box around the text of a well-designed book page. Boxes are, however, often placed around sidebars to the primary information. Here, on SI, the message isn't a sidebar. It's the main text. The new design properly treats it that way.

CK, Your examples are missing the Date/time line so that makes it difficult to compare to a real post. With all that white space between the message header and the TO: field in your example a boarder IS necessary to make the post look pleasing.

I am bothered by the fact that adding a box adds more horz lines to the vertical bulk of a message and the need to scroll is increased.

---------

The bars/buttons/links on the top need to be refined in the new site as it now takes up over 1/3 of each screen and adds nothing to the info in the message... just site navigation.

Compare the two sites side by side overlapping two browser
windows.
