I've stayed away from the discussion about inflation and deflation up until now, but I'm gonna make one simple post. Just one. I promise! :)

By definition, inflation is increasing prices of goods and services. Deflation is decreasing prices of goods and services.

Inherently, the definition doesn't address if inflation or deflation is good or bad. They can be good and bad at the same time, depending upon who is being affected.

Also, I've never seen a pure definition of the terms that makes an attempt to also include the causes. The causes of inflation and deflation are different from the definition. Only the economists make a living addressing the causes, and as we know, at any given time half of them are always wrong. That makes me wonder why the wrong half is getting paid. :)
