Paul, evidently there are many others with views similar to yours. Even though they may not be in a buying mood, they definitely are long and are not in a selling mood. Fewer shares available for selling at these prices, even with only modest buying demand, drives up prices. Another possibility is that investors who are interested in billion dollar or smaller cap stocks may see fewer reasonably priced opportunities elsewhere (i.e., the dot.com stocks).
