"Perhaps your trading strategy has not served you well" In September I was over weighted in ASYT and CYMER. Since Oct 8th I'm up a little over 200%. The problem was that I had shifted too much into ASYT and CYMER when they were near their highs. Also I had made significant withdrawals to cover living expenses.

My trading strategy works just fine in a flat or up trending market. It isn't worth a hoot in a downward spiral. I kept averaging down till I was out of powder. And then they fell further.

From now on if my portfolio falls to a predetermined level I will just sell everything and sit on the sidelines until the fish tank becomes clearer.

Intelligence is nothing but memory, and I hope I don't get alzheimers.

"most major indices have set record highs " True but not all stocks within those indices have recovered to the same extent that the index has. In the semi group The larger cap stocks AMAT, NVLS, KLAC are at their highs while the smaller caps are sadly lagging.

Someone posted of this or the AMAT thread. "Never bet the index".

Speaking of such, is there a semi-equipment index that resides as a mutual fund? Might be a worthwhile consideration.
