Wave Systems's device is a classic example of a solution in search of a problem. Yes, it's different, but so what. It sounds more like a CompEng senior project than a salable product.

24601, yes I comprehend the following

"Wave is no mere electronic payment mechanism.
Wave's solutions do not reside entirely in software.
Wave's solutions operate on the client-side of a network."

but it doesn't matter cause WAVX is charging too frickin much per transaction to be accepted. Can you comprehend that? In other words, WAVX costs too much to the consumer for the service that it gives. Your problem is that Visa is willing to take a 2.5% cut which is significantly less than what WAVX is hoping to make per transaction. The bribe that WAVX is going to have to make to large Box makers (Believe me, it will have to be more than the 10% that they propose) to get them to put in WAVX chips will kill WAVX. Without even turning a profit on a transaction, WAVX will have to cough up at least 10% to a box maker... you must be blinded not to see how ridiculous this business model is.

"Wave is no mere electronic payment mechanism"

so what, it meters... great, so where is all that metered software out there that you will have to pay a 50% premium on?

"Wave's solutions do not reside entirely in software."

like Joe AOL user is going to care.

"Wave's solutions operate on the client-side of a network"

Something only a propellar head can apppreciate.
