CHRIST = MESSIAH = THE ANNOINTED ONE

The Jews were still looking for an earthly kingdom Messiah. That is why Jesus shyed from the word . Even Peter said: (Matt. 16:16) "You are the Christ, the Son of the living God." and then Jesus warned them with this: v20 Then he warned his disciples not to tell anyone that he was the Christ. and he explained why: v21 From that time on Jesus began to explain to his disciples that he must go to Jerusalem and suffer many things at the hands of the elders, chief priests and teachers of the law, and that he must be killed and on the third day be raised to life.
His disciples did not like that. Maybe another reason why Jesus told the governor, when the gov. asked "Art thou the King of the Jews"? And Jesus said unto him, Thou sayest.

"Anointed" carries several senses in the Old Testament. All have to do with installing a person in an office in a way that the person will be regarded as accredited by Yahweh, Israel's God. And it was that way. God sent His Son to this earth and He gets all the credit for doing so. If I only find me in the mirror, then I am Messiah?? the annointed one of Israel? Sounds strangely like SELF worship to me.......

BTW Sam, the words "in Christ" shows up in the new testament77 times in the King James version of the Bible, 91 times in the NIV version, and also 91 times in the NRSV. So why take one time that Paul says it and build your self worship philo. around it??

Sam, Jesus saves, Jesus saves.

Ah, Sam---you trust in Paul
And seem to have made that 'yer call
But I must say
Jesus' way
Is what mankind has needed since the fall

Paul 'sed: "For me to live is Christ, and to die is gain."

How can you improve on that?

Trust you had a great Independence day.
As a kid, they had no fireworks laws. We use to get some pretty big firecrackers and put them under a can---light it---and---run away as fast as we could before it blew the daylights out of that can. Sometimes it would fly very very high---sometimes it would blow to smitherenes.
Ah---those were the days.

Ain't all these laws we now have just tremendous. The laws really make us free! :) vbg

Wishing you a phenomenal week.
