CD burner stuff

I looked at a Hewlett-Packard CD burner. Since I've a laptop, I needed an external unit. I can't remember the model, but it sold for $400 at Future Shop in Canada, roughly about $260 U.S. The box came with hardware, software, cables, instructions, and a couple of blanks.

I researched this stuff on-line and learned that DVD burners are just over the horizon. I also learned that re-writeable CDs are only readable by the drive that creates them, but write-once CDs are readable by any drive. It seems the CDs are quite inexpensive, and getting cheaper daily. I expect to see fire-sales on CD burners once the DVD burners become available.

I didn't save the URLs, so I can't point you to where I learned about this stuff.

Cheers, PW.
