Honestly, I don't know how most women vote as I am not in the booth with them! I do think that it's a safe bet that the women you encounter on SI--or at least the ones we both encounter--know damned well that women can lead and do the leading when they know they are qualified.

Remember when we were chatting a while back about PC designations such as "waitperson"? I commented then that when I was the first woman elected to chair a professional group, I immediately rejected the designation "Chairperson" because all of predecessors were "Chairmen." At the time I said, "I am a woman and quite pleased with it, thank you, and happy to be be 'Chairwoman.'"

I had no qualms about leading and the people who elected me were mostly men.
